“Interact” Therapy Dog Program

We run a therapy dog program called “Interact”, created for the expressed purpose of increasing the quality of life for children, teens and adults who are at risk, socially isolated and in need of a healthy dose of canine therapy.

Programs are designed based on the needs of each individual or group.

Autism Assistance Dogs

RPA raises and trains Autism Assistance Dogs to do a variety of practical tasks for children with an Autism Spectrum disorder (ASD) and Asperger’s syndrome.

As 1 in 4 children diagnosed with ASD may also have epilepsy, we also train dual purpose Assistance Dogs to assist with ASD and seizure response.

(All applicants have the same freedom to apply for an Autism Assistance Dog and that application will be considered on the same eligibility criteria and merit regardless of the applicants race, sex, sexual orientation, religion and, or, creed).

Type 1-Diabetes Medical Alert Dogs

RPA raises and trains Type-1 Diabetes Assistance Dog to do a variety of practical tasks for children with Type-1 Diabetes and their families.

These special dogs are trained to detect and alert when blood sugar levels drop to a dangerous level.  These dogs are lifesavers and can  give their recipient back their quality of life.

(All applicants have the same freedom to apply for an Autism Assistance Dog and that application will be considered on the same eligibility criteria and merit regardless of the applicants race, sex, sexual orientation, religion and, or, creed).

Seizure Response- Medical Alert Dogs

In 2022, RPA will open this program to applications for children between 4-14 years.

(All applicants have the same freedom to apply for an Autism Assistance Dog and that application will be considered on the same eligibility criteria and merit regardless of the applicants race, sex, sexual orientation, religion and, or, creed).

Private Dog Training

We offer private dog training sessions and rehabilitate privately owned dogs as our ethical commitment to reduce the number of pet dogs abandoned, surrendered or euthanised because of poor early socialization, lack of early training or the inadvertent development of inappropriate or unwanted behaviors that negatively impact the relationship between owner and dog.

Our trainers are professionally qualified and experienced dog trainers. RPA make house calls for a range of training needs within the city of Greater Bendigo.

We do not train privately owned dogs for service dog roles.
